Arials
The Aerials Category is an exciting and high-energy part of the Northern Ceroc Champs competition, showcasing skill, athleticism and trust between dance partners. Please read the following rules carefully before entering.
The Aerials Category is judged using the standard Northern Champs judging lenses criteria, but with a greater emphasis on aerial content than in a regular freestyle competition.
What Judges Are Looking For
• Difficulty and variety of aerials
• Combinations and transitions between aerials
• Clean entries and exits
• Technical execution and control
• Safe performance throughout
• Timing and flow within the routine
• Overall dance quality and presentation
What Makes a Routine Stand Out?
• A range of aerial types rather than repeating similar moves
• Smoothly linking aerials together in combinations
• Challenging content performed with confidence and control
• Dancing naturally into and out of aerials
• Good pacing throughout the track
• Strong partnership, teamwork and presentation
Important Points
• This is an aerials competition within a dance environment.
• Difficulty is important, but only when performed safely and competently.
• Judges will reward advanced aerial content, combinations and variety.
• Clean execution will always score better than difficult moves performed poorly or unsafely.
• The dancing between aerials should support the performance but is not expected to be the primary focus.
Considerations
- This category is open to experienced aerialists only.
- Both amateur and professional dancers are welcome.
-
All competitors in the Aerials Category must sign a waiver before competing. Failure to sign the waiver will result in disqualification and you will not be permitted to compete.
- All competitors must be confident performing acrobatic and aerial movements safely.
- Safety is paramount.
- Competitors must only perform moves that have been safely rehearsed and are within their physical capabilities.
- Ensure your space is clear and does not interfere with others competing when executing aerial moves.
- Any competitors deemed unsafe by the organisers or judges may be stopped immediately at their discretion.
- The Aerials Category is straight to final.
- A standard Ceroc track will last approximately 2 to 3 minutes.
- The judges’ decisions are final and non-negotiable.
Warm Up and Cool Down
- Competitors are responsible for their own physical preparation.
- Please ensure you warm up fully before your heat and take time to cool down afterwards.
